Brand Identity
The Pordenone Silent Film Festival is an annual event in Italy dedicated to the preservation and rediscovery of silent cinema. The visual identity is rooted in the idea that silence is not a limitation, but a powerful source of creativity and visual expression. Inspired by the language of early films, the system emphasizes rhythm, light, and movement rather than sound. Mostra Nuova was chosen as the primary typeface for its geometric structure and distinctly Italian modernist character, evoking the spirit of the silent film era. Through connected letterforms and fragmented compositions, the typography functions as an image before it is read, mirroring how silent films convey meaning purely through visuals.
